Engine and Transmission / idea for improving oil feed to the cams
« on: August 08, 2020, 10:18:51 am »

    Good morning gents,
I am rebuilding my Nuovo Falcone engine. It started with intending to just change the clutch plates but once the cases were off it was clear that more work was needed. So far:
Crank regrind including recovered nose for the oil feed, and new big end. New bearings throughout the engine/gearbox. New selector forks. Complete cyl head re build with improved valves/new guides/springs. New standard oil pump. Camshaft re grind/new followers.

I'm intending to fit a viton oil seal instead of a plain bearing on the crank nose oil feed. My attention is now on the camshaft oil feed. What a dumb system that relief valve fed weir is!! I'm thinking to tap the relief valve piston and fit a 0.3mm carb jet into it, giving a permanent small feed to the weir but still having a full valve operation at 3.8 bar.

Has anyone done this? and/or any thoughts?

PS: I already have the Moto Pirner modified oil feed and full flow filter system fitted.

Newbies say hello / New boy on the block
« on: August 06, 2019, 05:52:11 pm »

      Hello gents,
I'm recent recruit to the ranks of NV owners, with a 72 Civile in red.
Already had good advice from Dinko and the pass on of information.

A question on oil filters please. When I changed my oil, the filter was a single small paper type and not the original two element plastic type. Is the use of this paper type a known and accepted solution and if so what make and UK source please? If not, then where can I order the original two element plastic ones? I have looked at the Dutch and German web sites but no oil filters are visible.

  Appreciate your help

              Pete
