Engine and Transmission / Please help me to understand.
« on: August 09, 2017, 07:30:14 pm »
I have bought the Nuvo Falcone that has been on this forum under the heading of Another Tito`s cast off.On this forum, there is an entry on the 03 February 2015 07:49:51 pm titled Engine and Transmission/gearbox blues. The previous owner who signs off as Tony is asking "if anyone has the correct tolerances ". I have it from a very qualified engineer that the gearbox is shimmed at the factory and that each box is shimmed differently to suit.I also understand that it is absolutely critical that the shims are replaced as the factory intended. If the gearbox has been rebuilt and shims replaced by trial and error with no record of the factory location it could well be impossible to rebuild this gear box and would account for the reason why no Guzzi outlet would be willing to do this work.I would appreciate any comments or views as to if I am correct. Finally, would any forum member know of anyone who could carry out this work? Thank you.

Engine and Transmission / Gearbox problems.
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:15:31 pm »
The gear box has started to play up on my Military Model. Before we do anything it would be good to read up would any forum member's be able to make any suggestions.Looking at previous posts on this forum by the person that sold me the bike these issues have been there a long time before I bought the bike.

Thank you very much Banquo you have given me food for thought and will look into your suggestions and let you know through the forum.Cheers for now.

The engine has sprung an oil leak and I can`t work out what`s going on.There are some pointers which I will explain. The leak is substantial with a pool appearing on top of the crankcase on the plateau between the clutch lever and dynamo mounting bracket. The leak will not develop when the bike is stationary no matter how long the engine is running.I have not seen the leak appear on short journeys of 15 minutes or less.On journeys of 30 minutes or more the leak appears. If I mop up the leak until squeaky clean the leak will not show it`s self until I move off ie no matter how long the engine is running with the bike stationary the leak will not develop.I can't work out how to observe the source of the leak. The out of the box part of my brain has even thought about mounting a camera aimed at this part of the engine whilst riding but I don`t have a suitable camera.I would be very grateful for any suggestion's.

I have also had the same problem as Mr Goat in not being able to understand where I can buy  a fly wheel cover to allow sight of the bacon slicer.I can cope with Welsh or English after that I don't understand the lingo.I would be very grateful for any advice.

Engine and Transmission / Open fly wheel.
« on: March 18, 2017, 08:55:08 pm »
After assuring my long suffering wife that I would not be spending on the new bike I am weakening and wondering how to go about having an open flywheel.I have been Googling like mad but can`t find a proprietary casing to achieve this.Would it be possible to bandsaw the existing cover to allow machining on an universal miller like a Bridgeport with a boring head to finish off? Also while I am on would any Forum member know where I can buy a Falcone transfer/decal to adorn my toolbox. Many thanks.

Frame, Suspension and Tinware / Screen height on NF Military.
« on: February 21, 2017, 07:33:39 pm »
I have over the weekend managed to acquire a Might Nuovo Military.Having test ridden a few recently I have found the screen height to be right in my line of sight.Has anyone else found this and is there a way around this short of surgery.

I can only thank you both for your detailed replies . I am sure this will help me along as I am determined to become an Owner,I am however struggling in my quest to find if there is any one I could fall back on to sort out the gearbox if i fail.I would rather strip an engine down to rebuild than a gear box it may be just a mental block but is very real to me.Sorry to go on.Thank you again.

Thank you very much Nick.I would be glad of more advice.

I will I hope soon be able to take a NF for a test ride and hopefully if all is well become a proud owner.I believe the present owner to be a skilled engineer and an honest human being.I, however am of very modest ability with little or no experience of the NF.To cap it all I tend to believe most things I am told and can be a little naive.I would be grateful for any advice on what to look for,I am particularly concerned about the gearbox due to information I have read on this and other on line sites. Finally with regard to the gearbox should I buy a problem machine is there anyone in the UK (preferably not dealers more a trustworthy engineer type) who could sort the gearbox out?

Thank you very much for all the advice it is appreciated.I have by now managed a test ride on a Mighty N.F. However this was out of my price range but I enjoyed every minute of it.I would appreciate it if anyone has one for sale they could let me know I can offer a good home and guarantee not to sell it on for profit.

I have been studying the Mighty Nuovo Falcone for a long time now after seeing one at the Stafford Show and falling for it`s quirky/unique charm.I have become convinced that I would like to own one and have in £3500 cash available.Am I being unreasonable in expecting to buy a tidy low mileage runner for this sort of money or do I need to keep adding to the piggy bank?I would be grateful if experienced owners could offer some advice. At my age ,I would love to experience ownership but probably don't have that much time left to achieve this ambition.Thank you very much all advice appreciated.
