Dave's Spada
« on: January 03, 2016, 09:40:53 am »
My New Year means a change in my garage, Kawasaki LTD 1000 goes today, 350 Bullet this week to be replaced by a 1983 Spada, so now I will be a Guzzi only chap (1970 NF lives here) and my car is a 2007 Alfa 159, so toys wise I am Italian :)

Good move Dave. I suppose the NF and the Bullet do the same job, and the Spada should be more character ful (or character building perhaps!) than the LTD

I've always liked the look of the Spada, especially with the factory windscreen. Mechanically, it's a big block Guzzi, so should last forever.

Happy riding

It's been in a collection in Italy for years which explains only 11,000 miles, in super condition

I am actually buying it privately from the guy who bought it from the dealer last summer

Losing the fairing's no great loss. How do you manage on your NF? I'm only 6' 1" and sit right on the back of the seat....
I did see one with forward controls, which I did consider, but ended up getting by just by sitting further back

Inevitably I sit towards the back of the "ample" saddle, but I find 120 miles days no problem comfort wise (awaits Nick saying his is only just warming up after that piffling distance) ;D

When I think about it, it's probably my knee, which doesn't bend fully after an accident, which I've just worked out was 40 years ago...  :o

Even at 61, every time I get on a bike it makes me feel young :) great therapy

Me too (64, 6'2"). I find there's plenty of room on the NF.  Dave -my longest day rides on the NF have been in the 400 - 500 mile range which, at NF road speeds means lots of wear on the backside, even if the bike seems unflustered.

I just checked - in the 2 years I've owned it, I've ridden it 11,000 kms (just shy of 7000 miles), so not too much really, although I can use the excuse that I do have 3 other bikes...... and I use the Eldo mainly for long rides.  It's different here though - it's 500 miles to just about anywhere, and when you get there (as Jake will attest), there's not much of a destination.

I hope the Spada works out well for you. Just keep the lowers safe so you can replace them if you decide to sell.

Nick
