Hello all
« on: April 10, 2017, 06:46:36 pm »
Hello, just registered as I've recently acquired a civilian nuovo falcone. All went well getting it UK registered so I thought I'd take it for a spin and that's when the problem with the leaky fuel tank started! I think I know what the answer to my next questions going to be but i'll ask it anyway, what's the chance of finding a replacement tank anywhere?

Cheers all, John.....

Welcome to the forum John; was that the eBay one for sale in London?
Bad luck with the tank. I have never seen a Civile tank for sale, anywhere, and they will certainly be far less common than the ubiquitous Militare versions. All is not lost if you can't find one. Tonya's Militare tank was leaking and he took it to his local radiator repair shop, where they cut out the bottom, and either welded or brazed up the leaky joints for a fraction of the cost of a new tank. You can buy tank sealant, but a proper rapir is certainly a far better option.
Hopefully you'll get somewhere with that, if a tank doesn't materialise.
I've heard of people fitting a V35 or V50 tank, but don't know how true it is, and it probably won't be straightforward, as the fixings are different I think.
Good luck!

Banquo, thanks for the reply and yes it was the London Ebay one. The guy selling it did say the tank had been treated but it needs a bit more than that as there's been some pervious patching work done, found after removing a fair amount of filler! I did think a replacement tank would be like hens teeth but had to ask. Its going to need stripping back to bare metal and start again I think. Other than that it rode ok, bit of a top end rattle but they all do that don't they :o)

Yes, they're all a bit noisy, especially if the valve clearances are st towards the generous of the two options. Shame about the tank.I guess there might be one around somewhere, but most will be attached to their original bike. Hopefully someone else will chip in; there hasn't been much traffic on here of late, and you might get on better on the Facebook group if you do FB. There are parts available on the continent that don't appear on UK sites, and some of the other members seem to find parts a lot easier than we do. Unless it's rotted through, I guess it will be repairable?
Was the filler from accident damage, or a futile attempt at stopping the leaks do you think?

Somehow Kater my friend, I knew you would come forward and say that... ;D
Is there anything that SMS don't supply I wonder?
