Hi everone, took delivery of a Militare  yesterday, it's the one that was on Car and Classic with no pictures. Originally sold by NLM in 2006 used for a summer and then resided in a showroom at Boroughbridge until now. Speedo is showing under 3000 kms!! and the Pirellis appear to be the originals. I've ridden it on the farms concrete road but it would stop when the choke was off completely. The carb is currently being cleaned, incidentally what is the base setting for the mixture screw (air or fuel)? Also what are the functions of the intermittent idiot lights surrounding the speedo? some are obvious others just light whenever it suits.
So far I'm rather  smitten it reminds me of a 50's Caterpillar crawler we use occasionally, big bangs and slow revving!!!!!

Welcome to the world of addiction to slow and simple Tim... ;D

The default setting for the mixture (fuel) screw is 1 1/4 turns out, and it's out for richer; in for weaker
Assume you haven't confused the two screws; the big one with the thumbscrew is the idle speed and the small flush one is the mixture.

The idiot lights are oil pressure (red), charging (red), neutral (orange) and lights (green). I would have expected the lights one to be main beam only, but it's on with any lights.

If the other three all light when ignition is first switched on, then working out what's what should be easy enough. Pulling in the decompressor and kicking a few times should extinguish the oil light.

Neutral switches are unreliable; mine sometimes doesn't show, but never shows when it shouldn't.

You can't be sure of the correct positions, as they're all over the place from bike to bike, but the correct positions are oil top left, charging top right, lights lower left and neutral lower right.
It's notoriously easy to get them mixed up, as the inside of the binnacle is a mess.

Enjoy.
