Fork oil
« on: April 02, 2017, 09:52:47 pm »
Ok my  copy of an Italian manual for the Mighty Falcone seems to indicate (my understanding of Italian is practically nil!!!!) that the oil required is Agip ATF Dexron (auto box fluid) whereas I happen to also own a loop frame twin and the manual (in English, well American)  states Shell Tellux 33.

My understanding is both bikes use the same forks, certainly the required amount is the same and neither bike is exactly light, what oil are other folk using?

    thanks Tim

the fork oil is just for lubrication , so the type of oil is not critical
there is a hydraulic bump stop at the end of the fork travel, that might be affected if you use a very high viscosity
but as long as you dont use gearbox oil you should be just fine.
i use atf , but that is because i have a couple of liter lying around.

I refilled mine with Castrol 15W Fork oil (as I didn't have anything lying around). No perceptible difference from the watery emulsion that came out...
