Correct rear shock length?
« on: August 15, 2016, 07:27:36 am »
What is the correct length for the rear shocks?

My NF came with non-stock shocks and I would like to verify they are the correct length.

Hi,

the length of the original rear shocks is 320 m/m ;)

Or about 12.6-inches for the metric challenged. . . .

I've had good experiences with Hagon shocks on other bikes, so I sent an inquiry to their sales department about appropriate shocks for the NF since I couldn't find the NF listed in their product applications information.

Hagon responded that their records indicate an extended length of 320mm for civilian bikes and 330mm for military bikes.

Per my earlier post, my NF Military came with non-stock shocks.  These have an extended length of ~330mm.  Even after installing correctly sized tires (3.25-18 front, 3.5-18 rear), my bike rests somewhat lightly on the centerstand - - - which makes me think that the rear shock length is slightly too long.

Any thoughts?  I don't think a shock length of 320mm vs. 330mm will noticeably affect the handling, and the shorter civilian shocks might help to better balance the bike on the centerstand.

The standard shocks are foreseen with  the correct extended length of 320mm which apply for both  civilian bikes and military;
my NF Military has stock shocks, with lenght of  320.
my NF civilian has non stock shocks with extended length of ~330mm.

Even my Civilian bike rests somewhat lightly on the centerstand, meanwhile my Military is very stable
